As part of my role as a graphic designer in the athletic department of the University of Notre Dame, I was tasked with creating "plug-and-chug" graphics that are able to be quickly edited and published post-game. My goal of this series was to create flashy graphics that highlight pivotal players and are able to be edited and posted within minutes of the final whistle. Before I started this project, though, I wanted to get a better feeling for the energy of the team.
I started by doing a deep dive into the ND Volleyball's social media to get an understanding for the team's culture and personality. I learned that they love a good celebration and to boost their teammates, which inspired me to really lean into the fighting spirit in my graphics. From there, I pulled assets from our "All Fight" theme as well as interesting textures that are unique to volleyball.
Using these assets I went through a few iterations, but ultimately ended up with the graphics pictured below. I incorporated volleyball-specific textural elements to frame the success of the players. I also worked to make the statistics impressive and easy for fans to appreciate. Most importantly, all of the graphics I created are extremely dynamic and able to be edited to highlight different players as well as their specific statistics.
