As part of my role as a graphic designer in the athletic department of the University of Notre Dame, I was tasked with creating "plug and chug" graphics that are able to be quickly edited and published post game. My goal in of this series was to create flashy graphics that highlight pivotal players and are able to be edited and posted within minutes of the final whistle. Before I started this project, though, I wanted to get a better feeling for the energy of the team.
I started by doing a deep dive into the ND Volleyball's social media to get an understanding for the team's culture and personality. I learned that they love a good celebration and to boost their teammates which inspired me to really lean into the fighting spirit in my graphics. From there, I pulled assets from our "All Fight" theme as well as interesting textures that are unique to volleyball.
Using these assets I went through a few iterations, but ultimately ended up with the graphics pictured below. I incorporated volleyball specific textural elements to frame the success of the payers. I also worked to make the statistics impressive and easy for fans to appreciate. Most importantly, all of the graphics I created are extremely dynamic and able to be edit to highlight different player as well as their specific statistics.
